    To save having to assemble the LED bulbs manually, maybe you could order flexible PCBs and have them pre-populated with surface mount LEDs, then you could just glue the flex PCB to a bulb shell. I love this idea so much, I've experimented with this kind of stuff myself and this is really beautifully executed. Well done!

    Very cool Laser Saber! I remember many years ago making my first and only Joule Thief circuit. I didn't have a ferrite core, so I just used some iron wire wrapped around a rubber grommet. The odd thing about it was that it did not work with the resistor in the circuit, but it did work without the resistor.

    Really interesting project, great potential for a work site light. But word of caution if your running the LED's direct off of AC I have been totally messed up ill (motion sickness style nearly vomiting in the end) from working by an LED torch late through the night once, although I haven't thoroughly tested it I put that down to a very noisy AC circuit even if it was just off qn 18v battery and even if you can't directly see a flicker I now believe it can affect people. I'm not someone who particularly notices any of the grid AC LED bulbs now but whatever frequency the torch was running at messed me up. So my suggestion is even if you have to sacrifice efficiency some strong filtering should be looked at trying to run as close to DC as possible. Or get a good sample of people to see if uou can nail down any "bad" frequencies.

    I had the idea of a pullstart powered compressor for a pellet rifle awhile back. I like your idea more. Ever since playing Myst several decades ago I have been obsessed with dynamos. I have several flashlights powered by various types of generators and I think your approach is the best. I have thought of using voltage regulators to pull more power from the battery/capacitors, but your approach of using high voltage is amazing. Because when you turn a generator very fast you get more voltage, but not more amperage, so normally that extra voltage would go to waste. This setup lets you store all the energy, and regulate it down to a useable amount. I love every part of this. Good job!

    Great to see you back. One tip you should use a brushless motor with three phase rectifier! Just find the right size motor like a 100kv RC motor or lawn bl motor.Then will have more charging and less work to charge it.

    When disconnecting the power from the transistor's you got more power out than you put in? Sounds right to me😂 but be careful those people that discovered this kind of stuff have a tendency to disappear for some reason.

    • @TildaAzrisk
      @TildaAzrisk 10 минут назад

      Getting more power out than whats put in is easy. Very easy. Hitting a nail with a hammer can put out substantially more power than it took to swing the hammer. Its like filling a cup slowly then pouring it out quickly. The thing that you cant get more out than you put in is energy. You cant pour more water out of the cup than it was filled with. The thing is that increasing power output will run out of stored energy quicker, so overall the same amount of energy is output as what was put in. The goal of this lamp is to do the opposite of increaseing power output. Its goal is to decrease the power going to the lamp so that a powerful generator can be used without frying the lamp. The goil is to use to take in alot of power, all the power the big generator can provide, and store the resulting energy to be released much slower at lower power for a long time. Its like filling a cup of water quickly then pouring it out slowly. TLDR: Power and energy are different, though related, things. Much like how water flow is different from water storage. P. S. Writing this has made me question weither or not I know how a hammer works.

    You could try using higher voltage LED, they are just single 3.6V chips strung in series so no need to do all that soldering. I have used Lumileds Luxeon 5050 smd case size LEDs in some projects because of their efficiency. Some models are rated at 170lm/watt under normal use and if you under drive them you will easily get more than 200lm/watt. Also, Google seach "philips dubai lamp" to see what they did there - also under driving LED "filaments" to get great efficiency.

    @lasersaber - Great build, I particularly like the telescopic extender. 👍 Have you considered spiralling a length of self-adhesive LED ribbon around the head? Ribbon LED's would certainly spread a more even light than individual LED's. With ribbon LED's you would also have the benefit of an IR remote control and essential IP rating for outside use. If you wanted to take it one step further, add a 3D printed cage around the LED head and include a bug zapper! ⚡ This is just my opinion, I could be wrong. 😉

    Great concept, now reprint the led holder bit and offset the led's so that their light throw patterns overlap. It's the dark spots that make this device aper less capable than it actually is. This will greatly improve your device. I'll be watching for the production model. I'll buy a few.

    This is wicked. I remember in Army cadets some of the guys would bring those wind up torches that they would lose interest in because they had to give them a spin every 15 mins or less. I wouldn't mind seeing this SJR system in more of a compact torch size, much like a dolphin torch but maybe the size of a car battery.
